Corpus Based Teaching Material

 

Hello everyone!

It's been a while since my last post as I have been working on a more extensive and practice based project with my groupmate Eda (stairwaytoenglish). 

Our assignment was to create a Corpus based teaching material we can use with out students.

Let's start with learning what does Corpus and Data-Driven learning means.

Data driven learning is an approach to language learning which is rooted in corpus linguistics. Corpus provides data from which learners discover patterns for themselves. In this method, the learners are the active constructors rather than passive recipients of knowledge.

In our project, we focused on teaching DO&MAKE with the use of corpus. We created two worksheet for this purpose. The students will first do it with what they already know and after the research they make on COCA, they will revise their answers.

 Finally, they are expected to complete the second worksheet to see how well did they learned. 

This assignment was not easy but not that hard either. We can also use this material in our future classrooms which is very beneficial.
